The final outcome and effectiveness of any treatment depend as much on the attending physician as they do on the patient. This is the reason why we place so much importance on providing our patients with postoperative recommendations. In order to reduce the risk of complications or inflammation, our patients are informed about restrictions to be observed after treatment and methods of taking care of the oral cavity during convalescence. Full cooperation between dentists and patients gives the greatest effects and results in success.

Hygienisation treatments
Indications for scaling and abrasive blasting:
- Two hours after these procedures, completely refrain from eating and drinking.
- A white diet for the first 2 days, during which you should avoid highly-coloured foods
and drinks – coffee, tea, beetroots. - Refrain from smoking during the first 2 days.
- After scaling, you may experience increased tooth sensitivity to hot and cold foods,
which is normal. If tooth sensitivity persists, use a sensitivity-relieving toothpaste such
as Sensodyne, Colgate Sensitive or Relief and use a soft toothbrush. - After scaling, the gingivae may be slightly irritated, which may lead to slight bleeding and pain – especially during eating and drinking. If medically indicated, a dentist will
recommend a medicated mouthwash. - You may experience increased tooth mobility after calculus removal. A large amount
of calculus causes bone atrophy and lowering of the gingivae, thus reducing the
stability of the teeth. - After abrasive blasting, due to the sensitivity of the oral mucosa, irritation of the
tongue, palate and gingivae may occur. The patient may feel a burning sensation and
stinging. These discomforts will soon subside. You can also use gentle mouthwashes or gels such as Baikadent.
Indications for fluoridation:
- Refrain from eating and drinking, smoking and chewing gum for 2 hours immediately after this procedure.
- On the day of fluoridation, do not drink acidic juices or carbonated beverages and do not eat citrus fruits. Citrus fruits and fruit juices promote acid formation and they may interfere with fluoride.
- After this procedure, you cannot rinse your mouth or brush your teeth for 2 hours.
- In the case of applying fluoride varnish, hard foods should also be avoided – for 12 hours.
- Fluoridation is recommended usually once a year for adults and every 6 months for children. In patients who are particularly susceptible to dental caries, including orthodontic patients, fluoridation is performed more frequently – every approx. 3-4 months.
